Residential garden in Hollywood
New renovation of an older house. Existing landscape included only large old trees badly needing pruning. Existing circulation and parking was chaotic and dangerous. We designed, built the hardscape and fencing plus installed planters, Bambusa oldhamii (Tropical timber bamboo), Phyllostachys nigra (Black bamboo) and new drip watering system. Unfortunately the owners stopped watering the plants adequately in 2005 and when we visited the site in 2006 they were on their way, moving for a major job change to Seattle and the plants looked terrible.
owner and hermine sharing their bafflement over the existing chaos
Note from client - 'The bamboo is doing fantastic. As you expected the black bamboo kicked into high gear with the arrival of spring. It has shot up over the height of the fence in many areas and is doing great. The palms are also growing steadily and doing great with the spring weather. The oldhami has also been absolutely fantastic and continues to grow beautifully. I was looking at some of the photos of the installation less than a year ago and it is pretty amazing how much it has grown and what a wonderful change it has brought to the yard. '
