Japanese residential backyard

The owner-designer writes commercial stuff to pays the bills, but he is really an artist at heart and I love his design of a really small garden that can take the wear and tear of a family.  He chose an unusual bamboo for his centerpiece - Bambusa tuldoides.  But is keeping it attractive by doing a lot of pruning of the many side shoots.
