140 Broadway
One of the projects I worked on with Gordon Bunschaft at SOM. I made models, drew facades, laid out floor plans, met with Noguchi & Bunschaft about the sculpture. Noguchi called from a South Pacific beach and said he had a wonderful rock he wanted to show us. I told him I had made a large model, he asked what scale and then said he wanted to bring his rock to show us. When he arrived in our conference room the model was 3' tall - he looked at it and placed a small pebble on the plaza and said - that's where it should be. Gordon said yes, but it should be metal. Noguchi said OK, but it should have a hole in it pointing up to the chairman's office. We went into working drawings. The sculpture was built and installed without further ado.
