The Los Angeles Arboretum

 
One of the two major botanical gardens in Los Angeles.  The LA Arboretum is not just a pretty face, it is concerned with for example, what plants grow well in our climate, and it has a whiff of plant science about it, a friendly and accessible library, staffed with people who will kill themselves in search of obscure pamphlets when you show up to do a bit of research.

These are only a few photos of the plants growing at this massive institutional and historical garden.
