Native to dry semi-tropical forests of the Himalayan mountains in Nepal at
altitudes of 3000-7000'. Young, dark green 1/2" diameter, solid strongly
arching canes are covered with white powder, causing them to appear bluish.
Internodes have light and dark bands creating rings around the canes. Leaves
are narrow and dark green, about four inches long.
- In
1985 the plant flowered in India. In 1990 the plant flowered and
all plants in the U.S. died.

A 3' seedling in a 2 gallon pot was sold at the NWABS '91 sale for $85.
7 5 gallon pots were offered at the fall '92 SCABS sale for $25 each &
5 happy collectors got one. Two plants were sold at the '94 ABS auction
in San Francisco for $70 & $75. An 8" pot 4' tall was offered
for $75 at the '95 SCABS fall sale but found no buyer.
