Terrific plant recently brought into the U.S. from China with a blue-white flush on the canes, not well known in California, a sure winner if the canes grow up to look just like the ones in Florida.  Used to make paper and for weaving, has very thin culm walls. The culms are covered with white powder. Slightly open clumper with 2" diameter. culms.

The 'Barbelatta' version gets probably 12' tall within 3 years with 1 1/2" diameter culms. This rare Chinese import cleared U.S.D.A. quarantine in the 1990's. Also called Emperor's Blue Bamboo & White Bamboo.
