SASA VEITCHII
Photo

2' height, Shade, 0 degrees F Minimum.

Likes to run in cool & partly or entirely shady locations. Dark green leaves develop dry light-colored tan edges in fall, creating attractive bold pattern lasting through the
winter.  Best example we've seen is at Botanical Garden in San Francisco.
Good ground-cover or pot plant.  Very invasive, roots must be controlled.  12" deep heavy plastic or metal barriers will probably do because rhizomes are thin and light weight.  Concrete is best.  Occasionally requires trimming when rhizomes go over top of barrier.
Introduced into the U.S. from Japan in 1880.
David Andrews in Maryland reports plant evergreen down to 9 degrees F.
