PLEIOBLASTUS AKEBONO

12" height, Shade/sun, 10 degrees F Minimum, Runner.

Japanese name translates into "Color of the dawn sky."  New spring growth appears with shaded white leaf tips & slowly turns green if sunlight falls on the plant. Modest growth, slow, not vigorous.  Nevertheless, if grown in a moist location it makes a strikingly decorative springtime appearance which can be extended through the summer in the right location.  Too much shade will retard growth, too much sun will turn the leaves green.  Grows very well in a pot. None of the pleioblastus have done well in Southern Florida.
