        New introduction into the U.S. by the Bamboo Society in 1984.

        Used for bonsai in Japan, specimen is in the Rakusai Bamboo Park, Kyoto, Japan.  The ABS SoCal reference collection contained one plant as of 12/92.

        A 5 gallon pot was sold at the '88 NCCABS auction for $25.  At the '92 SCABS sale a 1 gallon pot was offered for $20 & a 5 gallon pot for $40.
