        Rare plant with a wrinkled & gnarled texture on the 2" maximum diameter culms.  Popular for use in the manufacture of flower vases in Japan.

        15 gallon pots sold at 1988-90 ABS auctions for $100. 5-15 gallon pots were sold at '91 ABS sales for $25-75. One 5 gallon pot was sold at the fall '92 SCABS sale for $20. Three collectors tried to buy it.

        We have successfully forced single node cuttings to produce beautiful tufts of foliage in spring, but when the tufts are planted outdoors they all fail.
