        Green culms with yellow grooves.          

        Imported from Japan by the ABS in 1987.  A 7 gallon pot sold for $285 at the 1988 ABS auction.  A 15 gallon pot was sold at the fall 1991 SCABS sale for $100.  At the fall 1992 SCABS sale 7 15 gallon pots were sold for $60 each.

        Single node rhizome cuttings made in spring will produce foliage in a greenhouse. If these leafy cuttings are then planted outside 50% will grow roots & become independent in several months. A higher level of success may be achieved by growing the cuttings in the greenhouse until they are independent.
