50' height, Full Sun, 25 degrees F Minimum, Clumper.
Solid green leaves, imported from China by Gib Cooper around 1988.  Said to be a high-yielding producer of canes in Henan Province, China.  Also in the past this name has been mistakenly attached to Bambusa oldhamii, according to Richard Haubrich.  One of our customers from Formosa says this plant, as well as the Mei-nung form grow in the mountains of Formosa, are much bigger than Oldhamii, have up to 8" diameter canes & very large leaves which are used to wrap rice & fish food preparations.
