30' height, Full Sun, 20 degrees F Minimum, Clumper.
Native of Taiwan with large attractive dark green leaves. A 10 gallon pot sold at the 1988 ABS auction for $350.  A 10 gallon pot sold at the fall 1990 ABS sale for $150.  A 5 gallon seedling was offered at the spring 1994 SCABS sale for $50, but found no buyers.  A 15 gallon pot 18" tall sold for $75 & a gallon pot 6" tall sold for $40  at the spring 1995 SCABS auction.  The single 20' high plant at Quail Gardens, which was planted in a dry location away from the watering system, went to seed in 1992.  Bushels & bushels of flowers & chaff were produced but Richard Neufield, who spent days & days sorting through the chaff found only 8 viable seed. Our plant was a division from the original plant which for some reason did not go to seed.
