- Various forms have all green canes,
light & dark green stripes, yellow stripes, silver stripes. I find the
color of the cane is heavily influenced by where it is growing and how much
light and moisture it gets.
- Nice solid green form at Quail.
Gallon pot sold at 1990 ABS sale for $50.
-
2" diameter culms,
straight-growing habit, has shape of oldhami and striping similar to
alphonse karr. Takes cold better than
vulgaris vittata. At
30 degrees F. vulgaris vittata looks terrible,
with no new foliage, old foliage dried, discolored & shriveled.
This one looks happy, with not a touch of leaf damage. Tough vigorous bamboo, one of 3 that
survived 1992 hurricane Andrew at Fairchild
Gardens in South Miami. Did well at
Gary Stinson's in Menifee,
California which freezes every year.
Propagate by division, from Taiwan.
